CANN Camp 2025 - We Had So Much Fun!

Apologetically, we were so busy having fun and keeping busy with our campers, we didn't get to a Thursday night blog...

Traditionally, the Thursday evening program is a talent show, followed by campfire and candlelighting.  As usual, our campers and teens showed some stellar talent for all of us to enjoy!  We had singing, instruments, interpretive dance, skits, and even a stand up comedian (he was sitting down, but that was part of the joke!)  During the talent show, we see campers and teens really "come out of their shell" and put on great performances for us!

Here's a picture of candlelighting.  This part of the week always elicits quite a few tears as campers and teens bring their wonderful week spent with friends, both old and new, at Holiday Lake to an end.  We recognize our senior teens in a senior circle during this time.

Friday morning was a crazy blur of packing, breakfast, camp evaluations, and our recognition program before loading buses, giving one last roll call, and heading back to our respective counties.

These campers and teens were recognized as our Head, Heart, Hands, and Health winners for showing exemplary characteristics in line with the 4H pledge.

These are our outstanding CIT, Teen, and Camper recognitions.  CITs, or Counselors in Training, are aging out of the camper category and have worked all week to learn to be an effective counselor in the upcoming years.  We cannot run camp without our teens for supervision, enthusiasm, leadership, providing good role models, and teaching and assisting with classes every day.  Our camper is one that is usually a first year camper who shows resilience in a new environment and gives it their all for a great week at camp.

Campers are divided into 8 groups during the week.   Throughout the week, there are various tasks, activities,  and opportunities presented that allows the groups to earn points.  The spirit stick is passed between groups as each is recognized and earns points.  The winning group this week was the Bright Minds group!  Congratulations to that group and to their teen leaders..  (Shown:  one of our senior teens along with two staff members).

We'll close out this camp by leaving you with the lyrics to "Linger", a song that is sung during candlelighting.
